Botox is injected directly into the skin of the affected areas of the face, where it works by relaxing the muscles causing the fine lines or wrinkles. Botox prevents these muscles from contracting. When the muscles aren’t able to contract, your skin stands smoother, tighter and free of wrinkles. Procedure - The target area is cleaned and a numbing cream is applied to prevent any pain or discomfort during the process. You will then be asked to contract your facial muscles in order to determine the sites for injecting Botox. The identified sites are then marked. Finally, small quantities of Botox are injected into the marked sites carefully with the use of extremely small needles. Post-treatment Care - You are advised to keep in mind the following: Apply cold compresses or ice packs to get rid of swelling and bruising.
Do not rub or massage and avoid any pressure on the treated area.
Do not lay down for a couple of hours after treatment and avoid vigorous activities for a day.
Avoid excess sun exposure and do not forget to apply sunscreen before going in the sun.
Avoid blood thinning medications for a day.
